Since 1981 VAE has been challenging young people to experience more of the world and to develop themselves. We now live and work in Kenya, where we offer students and graduates (both recent and older) the opportunity to volunteer as teachers in poor, rural schools.
What's different about volunteering with us?
We develop young people with attitude.
We find students and graduates who
want to do something meaningful. This isn't a holiday and it's not your normal gap year.
This is a real job - and that's why it's so rewarding.
We put you where you're needed.
Schools with insufficient teachers and overcrowded classrooms. Schools that need your energy and your skills. Schools where you can make positive change.
We only deal with the poorest and the worst.
You live like an African in an African community.
It's not about having. You'll have no running water, no electricity, no proper loo, no wifi, no signal. It's about giving. Giving passion, giving hope, giving skills, and giving a future to a few. It's about giving more than you have.
You return a class act.
VAE teaches you lessons for life. You'll pick up the ultimate transferable skills: leadership,
communication, teamwork, tolerance, patience and respect.
Respect for others and respect for yourself.
VAE exists to serve young people
We believe in your capabilities, stretch you further than you can imagine, but support you every step of the way. If you can do VAE, you can do anything.
